Dale Earnhardt dominated the 32nd Daytona 500 leading 155 of 200 laps. As Lap 199 began, Earnhardt would lead Derrike Cope, Terry Labonte and Bill Elliott on a one-lap trophy dash. Heading into Turn 3, Earnhardt’s right rear tire ran over a piece of bell housing. The result was a blown tire, adding to years of frustration for the great champion. One man’s misfortune became another’s bounty as Cope would go on to produce one of the greatest upsets in NASCAR history by winning the Daytona 500. Audio courtesy of MRN Radio
