Dale Jarrett would get his second Daytona 500 win in a much different fashion than his first. Sure, the combatant that would challenge him was the same -- Dale Earnhardt -- but this time around the “Dale and Dale Show” had a different twist.
The waning laps of the ’96 500 saw Jarrett in the lead, holding off the master. Lap after nail-biting lap saw Earnhardt diving and coaxing, trying to force Jarrett into a mistake to now avail. It seemed like old times for Jarrett’s dad Ned, who got to call the final laps again.
